If an adult person makes an informed choice to do something, and it does not affect others, should they be allowed to do it?

Comments:
I've always agreed with this notion.

This is part of my reasoning for wanting smoking to be banned in all public places.

That's an action that DOES have an effect on the people around you.

I also think marijuana should be legalized, but most people aren't ready for that...
 
See, I like it in principle, but everytime I agree too it someone is able to make one particular case that screws me. And, like always, I can't think of an example right now. I know there's a couple out there. Marijuana, great. Sex, in any form, not involving minors, great. Really, right now, I can't think of the example that people usually end up hammering me with...but I know it's out there. Anyway, good luck on your new blog, I came over fro Brian's Political Donneybrook, which I got to from stinging nettle, which I got to from my fantasy football league. I'll keep checking in.
